Dentsply Sirona launches advanced endodontic sealers: Bioceramic ProRoot® Bio Sealer and AH Plus® Ribbon®

Dentsply Logo

Dentsply Sirona is launching two new sealers for root canal obturation, addressing users’ diverse needs: ProRoot® Bio Sealer sets a new standard for bioceramic sealers: Higher bioactive cement content vs. other bioceramic sealers promoting hydroxyapatite formation, and clinically proven rapid periapical healing response. AH Plus® Ribbon® builds on the proven Ribbon®/AH Plus® technology, trusted for 30 years, and features improved paste consistency and adhesion to gutta-percha. In the United States, both products will be available in October 2025.

Charlotte, N.C., September 22, 2025. For over 25 years, Dentsply Sirona has been with ProRoot® MTA Root Repair Material one of the leading providers of MTA-based bioceramic endo products. Now, with ProRoot® Bio Sealer, a state-of-the-art bioceramic sealer is available, which sets new standards. ProRoot® Bio Sealer’s calcium silicate-based formula has a higher bioactive cement content compared to other bioceramic sealers 1 , that supports setting, high pH value, and promotes the formation of hydroxyapatite. Clinical interim study results show very high shortterm healing rates, and more stable radiographic visibility over time, compared to leading bioceramic sealer2.

The innovation of ProRoot® Bio Sealer also extends to its applicator. The flexible, adaptable design of ProRoot® Flex Tip allows for easy application into all canal anatomies and reduces material loss per tip by up to 49%3.

These and the following properties make ProRoot® Bio Sealer the material of choice when going the bioceramic obturation pathway:

  • Favorable flowability, syringe extrusion force, and easy application into the root canal4
  • Suitable for all obturation techniques, including cold, warm and carrier based5
  • Easy retreatment6
  • Non-staining formula7
  • High pH value8

“ProRoot® Bio Sealer has excellent viscosity allowing me to control placement. It flows into microanatomy and canal irregularities when present,” says David J. Landwehr, DDS, MS, Capital Endodontics, Madison, Wisconsin. “When a bioceramic sealer is the best alternative, ProRoot® Bio Sealer will be my choice.”

The “Gold Standard” now with improved consistency and adhesion

Enhancing a clinically proven solution—that's the promise of the AH Plus® Ribbon® nextgeneration endodontic sealer from Dentsply Sirona. AH Plus® sealer technology has been proven effective in endodontic treatments for 30 years9. Today, AH Plus® is the world's most researched brand of endodontic sealers. It offers excellent long-term sealing properties 10 , outstanding radiopacity11, and can be used with both cold and warm obturation techniques.

The newly developed AH Plus® Ribbon® endodontic sealer from Dentsply Sirona offers two significant advancements compared to former Ribbon®: Improved paste consistency for easier mixing and better flowability and improved adhesion to gutta-percha12 supports the overall success of root canal treatment. This promotes the integrity of the seal and reduces the risk of leakage, which are critical factors in achieving treatment success. Thanks to its favorable dimensional stability with slight expansion13, AH Plus® Ribbon® is an excellent choice for all root canal obturation techniques, especially the single-cone method.

Dentsply Sirona therefore delivers what clinicians expect from an efficient endodontic sealer: “The flowability is even better—thanks to its modified consistency,” says Beth Damas, DDS, MS, Diplomate of the American Board of Endodontics from Orland Park, Illinois. “This version allows us to reach many lateral canals, which is exactly what we need in practice, I really like that.”

AH Plus® Ribbon® is thus a worthy successor to Ribbon® and is built on the proven resin technology from Dentsply Sirona used in over 800 million root canal fillings 9.

“Every dentist has an individual approach to endodontic treatment,” explains Arjan de Roy, Group Vice President Essential Dental Solutions at Dentsply Sirona. “With AH Plus® Ribbon® and ProRoot® Bio Sealer, we offer a choice that matches the personal preferences of each user. Both endodontic sealers meet the highest standards and are based on clinically proven technologies. By providing the “Best of Both Worlds” with regards to both sealer technologies, we’re convinced that each sealer will give practitioners the confidence they need to successfully perform endodontic treatments.”
