CUYAHOGA FALLS, OHIO – March 1, 2011 HyFlex® CM Rotary Files from Coltène /Whaledent, Inc. are “changing the DNA of NiTi files.” This endodontic file system is a unique breakthrough in NiTi rotary files with a “Controlled Memory” (CM) effect.

HyFlex®CM  NiTi files are manufactured utilizing a unique process that controls the material’s memory, making the files extremely flexible, without the shape memory of other NiTi files. The process allows the instrument to follow the canal without creating undesired lateral forces on the canal walls, making the files extremely flexible with no rebound, while reducing the risk of file separation, binding and complications such as ledging, transportation and perforation.

This new technology yields an improvement of more than 300% in cyclical fatigue compared to standard NiTi files*, reducing the incidence of file separation – the endodontist’s “worst nightmare”.

A clinician is also able to achieve multiple uses from a HyFlex®CM file, because the shape of the files with straightened spirals can be restored during autoclaving and re-used.

Coltène/Whaledent, Inc., a dental products manufacturer whose US headquarters is in Cuyahoga Falls,OH, is built on a strong history of product innovation, and has emerged as a leader in the fields of impression materials, endodontic products,  composites, bonding, post and core, ultrasonic systems, and delivery systems. Coltène/Whaledent’s ongoing mission is to recognize the unique demands of the global dental market at an early stage and to provide high quality solutions to meet those needs.

There remains a growing belief among clinicians that obturation is to blame for endodontic failures. This notion has more recently fallen under scrutiny as researchers have discovered that the most thorough obturation can only reflect the quality of the cleaning and shaping of the canal. In fact, a number of researchers point to the thorough use of irrigants — making sure that the debris and irrigant itself are lifted completely out of the canal, not forced out the apex — as the most important determinant in the long-term success of an endodontic procedure.
